PROJECT 1:
DESIGNER'S JOURNEY:
ELEMENTS OF DESIGN
TASK
In this assignment, students were to produce an A5 accordion booklet. The content will consist of elaborations and explanations on the design elements observed from black and white photographs, photograph by ourselves. Other than that students were also required to produce one A3 sheet of analysis from the painting Guernica.
MY REFLECTION
WEEK 1: RESEARCH AND LEARN
I begin the assignment by watching the tutorial videos shared by Miss Iffa. I gather artline pens, pencils and colour pencils. I try to sketch and ink myself. I then went to draft out the master plan with a HB pencil.
WEEK 2: INKING AND COLOURING TECHNIQUES
I drafted out the masterplan. After getting feedback from Ms Reene about my landscape master plan sketch, I proceed to line my work with 0.05 Artline Drawing System Pen. I try to colour the master plan in an architectural way in my own sketchbook first.
WEEK 3: START SKETCHING TASK B
I outlined my master plan. In a photocopied version of the master plan, I test out different colour combinations. Other than that, I started doing research on the internet and drawing out plans and elevations of softscapes referring to the information I got from various websites.
WEEK 4: LABELING AND SKETCHING TASK B
Since this is the last tutorial class before submission, I try to complete everything. I try to label out the masterplan and sketched out 4 hardscapes. I also coloured in the final versions of my softscape element sketches.
REFLECTION
1. DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
By the end of the assignment, I fully understood what is the correct way to sketch out a masterplan, as well as various softscapes and hardscapes. I also gained understanding in the special terminologies in architecture.
2. LIFELONG LEARNING
With little guidance from lecturers and tutors, I looked up the internet for correct ways to sketch out softscapes and hardscapes indepently. I realize as I grow older, I am required to solve problems and difficulties myself, before relying on others.
MY REFLECTION
3. INTRAPERSONAL SKILLS
I learned to not be repulsive to redoing my work and acknowledging my weakness.
