WEEK 10: IDENTIFYING MY SITE AND DESIGN PROPOSAL

The first step in this project is to identify my site. I have chosen to build a structure catered to the residents of Alam Sanctuary, my neighborhood in the neighborhood park. An in-depth site analysis is conducted to know my site strengths, weaknesses, along with my opportunities and threats.

After that, I was to establish a design proposal for my program. This will act as the outline of my project and the basic requirements it needs. The design parti is the main driving force behind all my future design choices.

WEEK 11: CONCEPTUAL DESIGN

With my inspiration in mind, I then designed the basic form and space of my parasitic structure, following steps such as massing studies and material study, my structure slowly falls into place.

WEEK 12: HUMAN NEEDS AND EGRONOMICS

The conceptual development takes place as I continue to refine my idea in detail after receiving feedback from my tutor. After the design is locked and sealed, I then proceeded to develop the dimensions and work out the space capacity.

WEEK 13: MODEL MAKING

The final model making takes places after I have done sufficient research on the tips and tricks to express certain structures. I decided to make the terrain white so that it doesn't overpower my structure, which is brown. The model making took 3 days to complete.

WEEK 14: PRESENTATION SLIDES

I was told that we were to compile all our information into presentation boards, paying close attention to the composition, colour scheme, and visual hierarchy. I proceed to digitalize all my sketches and arrangement them following the design process. Lastly, I wrote down all my main points and linked them together into my script for an architectural presentation.

1. DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

I was able to empathize with my chosen site and its users. The program is suited to aid the activities performed by the neighborhood. I was able to bring up social narratives such as Covid-19 and how it affects space relations.

2. COMMUNICATION SKILLS

I went around and asked the neighbors in order to understand my site. I have a better grasp of interviewing people.

MY REFLECTION

3. DIGITAL LITERACY

I learned how to digitalize my sketches using photoshop. Other than that I also learned how to digitally render my sketches.
